Preparing for the next stage

High School programme

In High School, students deepen their analytical and critical thinking, strengthen academic writing and research habits, and grow as independent learners. The programme prepares them for the IB Diploma Programme, university and meaningful life beyond school.

Learning in High School

As the world changes quickly, we understand the need to move beyond traditional ways of absorbing knowledge. Our educational methods prepare high school students for their future academic and professional path.

At the heart of our High School programme is the development of analytical and critical thinking. These skills help students become thoughtful, rational young people who make effective decisions based on valid facts, balanced arguments and different perspectives.

Students reach C2 in English in Grade 10 or 11, while their second foreign language – German or Spanish – develops towards B2 in Grade 10 or 11.

How we build analytical and critical thinking

Logic

  • Students think critically and recognise logical connections between processes and concepts.
  • They transfer knowledge from one field to another.
  • They formulate well-grounded conclusions.

Analysis

  • In Bulgarian literature, students independently analyse different literary works.
  • They work actively with artistic texts, quotations and interpretation.
  • In English, weekly literature lessons with unadapted texts begin in Grade 8.

Argumentation

  • Students use articles and essays as sources of different perspectives.
  • They learn to defend positions during structured discussions.
  • They compare arguments and evaluate evidence.

Patterns and mathematical thought

  • In mathematics and sciences, students search for repeated patterns and principles.
  • Six mathematics lessons per week allow development at different levels.
  • The programme challenges both advanced students and students who need more time with concepts.

Hypotheses

  • In science lessons, students create their own hypotheses based on accumulated knowledge.
  • They test validity, reliability and applicability through experiments and data analysis.

IB Programme

  • In Grades 11 and 12, students deepen critical and analytical thinking through the IB Programme.
  • They explore complex questions from a global perspective and develop reasoned expression.
